Opening Reception for Local Artist, Shelley Savini
June 7 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Transmission: Tents, Tunnels and Territory: June 1-30
Opening Reception: First Friday, June 7 from 5p-8p
Shelley Savini is a local artist and art teacher from Zionsville. For the past two years she has been working on a series entitled Transmission: Tents, Tunnels and Territory. The linear, non-subjective work is only red, yellow, blue, green, and black on white canvas and paper. She will exhibit a continuation of that series as well as present paintings and collage works chronologically.
The new work portrays a softening of colors, lines to shapes and a letting go of the strict control shown in the TTT series. It blends her past painting style, action art and the collage work.
Shelley has been exhibiting one woman shows since her graduation (1997) from Indiana University Bloomington School of Fine Art and Education. She completed her Masters in Visual Arts Education at Herron School of Art IUPUI Indianapolis 2009. Shelley owns and instructs after-school art classes and workshops at her Plainfield studio, Art on Main, as well as the Indianapolis Newfields Museum of Art.
She has recently started instructing private classes at her home in Zionsville.
Original acrylics on canvas, watercolor on paper and collage on wood will be available for sale, as well as some smaller drawings and art objects. The finished artworks will be shown chronologically 2017-present.
