Process
Robert Goodman Jewelers strives to source from honorable and proactive jewelry designers and suppliers whose character aligns with the ethics and values of our Human Model.
Sourcing decisions are based on transparency, verifiable data, and continuous improvement. Definitions about materials and responsible sourcing are explained in our glossary. We believe good is better than perfect and engagement is better than judgment.
The process of arriving at these decisions is underpinned by conversations that cultivate goodwill, accountability, and reliability. The criteria below are substantiated with certifications, third-party audits, standards, and other industry assurances as well as honest, itemized documentation. Detailed information on specific initiatives and certifications can be found in our blog.
Robert Goodman Jewelers In-house: Custom Jewelry & Repairs
The jewelry designed and crafted by Robert Goodman Jewelers and the repairs and any custom work is wholly made in Fairmined-certified gold, diamonds sourced from Robert Goodman Jewelers partners (who commit to disclose the information available, reducing the opaqueness of the industry), and responsibly artisanally & small-scale mined colored gemstones, as much as possible. Please read the glossary for a definition of each material.
Robert Goodman Jewelers Sustainable Designers
The curated selection of jewelry by sustainable designers is carefully chosen following the framework devised by Robert Goodman Jewelers to source responsibly. This framework is called the “Pathway for Designers and Suppliers”—which itself aligns with The Human Model, Robert Goodman Jewelers’s ethos.
Although Robert Goodman Jewelers cannot demand how each designer chooses their materials, the criteria and process below explains how and why Robert Goodman Jewelers determines which designers to carry. We look at the designer’s disposition toward sustainability efforts, desire to source responsibly, commitment to continuous improvement, and capability to share facts. The idea is to encourage each designer to increasingly use responsibly sourced materials as the relationship evolves.
