Fascinated from childhood by the golden treasures of ancient Egypt, Susan Hamilton Meier studied art history and studio art at Dartmouth College and traveled across Mexico exploring pre-Colombian sites, drawing inspiration from artists like Anni Albers.
After beginning her career at Sotheby’s Jewelry, Susan honed her craft in granulation and wax carving, studying with Dutch master jeweler Fred de Vos for over 20 years.
Each jewel created in her New York studio starts as a delicate wax sculpture, hand-carved and textured, then transformed through the ancient lost-wax casting method into wearable art that reflects both history and channels the radiance of sunlight.
