We (Bob and Rose-Marie) opened our store in 2000 to foster an inviting environment and establish a place to share creative, original jewelry collections. Since then, we’ve developed real relationships with over 25 designers and hundreds of customers as we remain committed to our responsible practices.
In 1890, Jewish immigrant Zanvil Goitman (Bob’s grandfather) left Russia for a new life in the United States. He ended up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where a judge changed Zanvil’s name to Jacob Goodman.
At the 1901 World’s Fair in Buffalo, New York, Jacob had a booth on the carnival run and gave away jewelry trinkets as prizes. But when President McKinley was assassinated at the fair, the event was shut down as a result of the shooting, along with Jacob’s booth.
Now stuck with the jewelry on credit, Jacob put everything on his back and decided to peddle it. Thus began the family business that we’ve carried on to this day.
